Testimony on the Cost by Julio Torres

Julio Torres is a member and leader in Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW). He was in the military for ten years and saw many needless issues that were brought up in that time with the wars. The issue of the poor being used to fight the war, the issue of ex-military equipment being use by police, and the issue of falsifying reasons to go to war with the excuse of fighting against tyranny and for democracy. He is tired of a feudal hierarchy which is communist in nature being used to perpetuate the misery of capitalism which fails on its own merits because it survives on tax dollars and tax breaks. All done through some connection to wars being fought. For six years he was active duty military intelligence. He left for the reserves. for two years he worked in training and operations as an Intel analyst and for two years he has have been a Chaplain Assistant. Julio has a BA in Global History and is working on a Masters of Divinity (M. Div.).

Winter Soldier- Iraq Veterans Against the War

Winter Soldier: Iraq and Afghanistan featured testimony from U.S. veterans who served in those occupations, giving an accurate account of what is really happening day in and day out, on the ground.

This four-day event brought together veterans from across the country to testify about their experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan - and present video and photographic evidence. In addition, panels of scholars, veterans, journalists, and other specialists gave context to the testimony. These panels covered everything from the history of the GI resistance movement to the fight for veterans' health benefits and support.
